Postgraduate programs

The department offers MSc Engineering degrees in Thermal Power and Mechanical Design. The PhD degree is awarded after completion of the remarkable original research work.

The main focus of MSc program in Thermal Power Engineering is:
- familiarization with the advanced theory of Fluid Dynamics, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer and Numerical Techniques for simulation of the mathmatical models from these branches;
- application of theory & mathematical models using numerical techniques to the design thermal systems, processes and engines.
The MSc program in Mechanical Design encompasses advanced concepts of mechanics and materials. The necessary theory for theoratical stress analysis and related numerical techniques e.g. Finite Element Methods & CAD, machine dynamics and related areas are taught to the postgraduate students.
The duration of full time MSc program is 3 semesters (1.5 years). The course work take first two semesters, whereas in the last semester students are required to complete their thesis based on their postgraduate research in this final semester.

The normal duration of PhD program is 3 years. The main strength of departmental research is in the area of Internal Combustion engines, CFD, and design of Thermal Systems.
